Evric Jenkins, senior, was crowned champion of Survior during a school wide assembly on Feb. 17. All nine contestants who were booted off throughout the week came back to make one last decision: who they would vote for as Survivor champion. Jenkins beat out fellow seniors Rachel Sliger and Sydney Herbst in the final vote. He sat down with the Amplifier for an exclusive interview. Whenever he voted off a fellow contestant, Jenkins would deliver his own unique interpretation of a popular song.  He gave his final performance of Survivor during the interview with a rendition of  “Sexy and I Know It” by LMFAO.

About the Contributors
Ty Clarke, Co Editor-In-Chief
Ty Clarke, senior, is an Oregon native who found a place in Amplifier to join two of his favorite things: journalism and sports. His skills in journalism trace back to when he joined the Amplifier staff as a freshman. From the beginning, he had a knack for writing stellar sports articles. Then as a junior, he teamed up with Sean to be the new sports editor. Ty is involved in a variety of sports himself: he is a forward on the co-ed soccer team “Straight as a Rainbow”, a point guard in intramural basketball, and a member of the “Mis-Hits” tennis team. His favorite subject is AP English, because it opens his mind to new viewpoints and systems of belief. With his wit and amicable personality, Ty is easily the favorite student in several of his classes. In the future, he aspires to study either journalism or law in college.
Danny McGarry, Reporter

Entering Journalism for the fourth year, Danny Mcgarry, senior, has formed some interest in Journalism. McGarry went to  Athey Creek not until he joined the journalism because his middle school teachers recommended it. He also thought it would be interesting.

Danny took the Journalism III for the second time because he knew journalism  was something he wanted to go into. After being part of the Amplifier Senior Edition, McGarry feels great and “has fun because he makes lots of connections with people,” McGarry said. Writing is his favorite part of journalism, because it’s an easier way to express his point.

McGarry’s favorite hobby is playing Starcraft, a video game that he’s decent at playing. Playing the drums and guitar are his other hobbies, as well as listening to music. McGarry feels himself playing the actual instrument when listening to music.

McGarry was born in Virginia, and moved to Oregon at the age of two. He went to Stafford Elementary School and then to Athey Creek Middle school. McGarry says that he’s “great at everything.” McGarry has lots of freedom in school when in journalism.

What McGarry is most looking forward to most this year is being able to graduate high school. So far he’s taking AP classes such as AP English and AP Computer Science. He’s taking Journalism because he wants to major in communication.
