Eric Viuhkola named Oregon class 6A state basketball head coach of the year

Over Spring Break, the boys varsity coach, Eric Viuhkola, was awarded the 6A Coach of the Year after guiding the Lions to their first state title since 1997.

“It’s nice to win this award, but winning the state title was a lot better. It also proves that what we’re doing with the basketball program can win us a state championship,” Viuhkola said. Viuhkola joined the West Linn staff in 2008 and has led the Lions to three straight trips to the Rose Garden.

“Players believe in the system that is being run here. We have a great program,” he said.
