McNary Varsity Baseball Team triumphs over West Linn

With a new head varsity baseball coach from Southridge High School, Joe Monahan, the West Linn High School Varsity Baseball team (5-5) lost on its own turf to the McNary Celtics (2-1-3) 6-2 on April 7.

McNary started the game with one run in the first inning not to be matched by the Lions until the bottom of the third.  West Linn’s Jordan Dailey, junior, drove the ball between third and second base to the outfield hitting a double.  Parker Huffman, junior, then drove in a single sending Dailey to home plate to score the first run for West Linn.

Karsen Lindell, junior, hit a solo home run in the fourth inning pushing West Linn ahead 2-1.

McNary responded with three RBI (run batted in) singles in the top of the sixth but after a double play by West Linn, the Celtics left with the bases loaded. West Linn could not come back, however and ended the game defeated, 6-2.

West Linn will play at the Southridge Skyhawks (5-4) at 4:30 P.M. on Wednesday, April 9.
