West Linn Varsity Lacrosse outlasts Lakeridge in a nail-biter

A rematch of last year’s state championship took place Friday night at Lakeridge High School. West Linn (10-1) took on Oregon lacrosse powerhouse, Lakeridge (10-4). These two teams have a fierce rivalry, which stems from West Linn’s loss to the Pacers in the Oregon State Championship game last year.

Jumping out to a quick lead in the first quarter, West Linn, catalyzed by a pair of goals from Ryan Klose, sophomore. The Pacers slowly made their way back into the game with a few goals late in the period, putting them up 6-5 at half.

Third quarter goals by Ryan Klose, Jacob Taylor, sophomore and Ian Anderson, senior, led a Lion surge. After a two-plus minute defensive stand, the Lion’s prevailed, and picked up their first win on Lakeridge’s turf in recent history.

The Lion’s next game is tonight at 8 pm against the Clackamas Cavaliers at West Linn High School.
