The West Linn Lions (7-2, 5-2 Three Rivers League) easily handled the Canby Cougars(3-6, 2-5 TRL) 49-28 on Friday, sending them with a win into playoffs. The team started in the first quarter with sophomore quarterback Tim Tawa connecting with junior wide receiver Cody Coppedge for a touchdown, tied with Canby 7-7.

In the second quarter the Lion’s offense was on fire; Tawa rushed for one touchdown. Then throwing for two more touchdowns to junior wide receiver Connor Berggren and passing for another to sophomore running back, Elijah Molden, to give the lions a 35-7 lead at the half.

In the second half, Tawa connected with Molden for a touchdown, and junior running back Kahlil Monson rushed for a TD, giving the Lions a 49-28 win.

    The Lions play in the first round of the OSAA State Playoffs Friday against Roosevelt 7 p.m. at home.
