Varsity Girls Golf will continue tournaments until May 20. The West Linn Girls Varsity Golf team adapted to a change in the program.

The West Linn Girls Varsity Golf season is well underway, and Rameen Ali, sophomore, is excited about how the program is growing and all of the changes.

“It’s a competitive team. People are always qualifying for each other’s spots so you definitely have to push yourself,” she said. The increase in the number of golfers has made everything more competitive.

“Sometimes you don’t get to play where you want to be if someone played better than you,” Ali said. “It’s a change from last year but I’m enjoying it a lot more,”

With the loss of four seniors after last year’s victory at state, the expectations are higher for the golf team from the coaches and players. They hope to win state two years in a row.

“I really feel the pressure this year to make my team proud. I feel part of a community and a family when I am with my team.” Bella Fenner, sophomore said.

In addition to the changes, they hired another coach, to train alongside Bob Turnquist, Molly Peters, Chris Fenner and Cory Lohman. The team’s next competition is on April 12 and 13.
