Co-president of Gender Sexuality Alliance, Walters organized the walkout on Nov. 8 to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community at the school. “The purpose of this demonstration is to allow students to show solidarity with their LGBTQ+ peers and to peacefully address the culture of intolerance on the WLHS campus,” a press release published by GSA stated. Walters soon shared her own story and the message for the demonstration. “I want you to treat this day, and the rest of your life, like a pride celebration,” Walters said.
