Sadie’s dance rescheduled

Due to snow and ice warnings on Feb. 8, the West Linn-Wilsonville school district cancelled all school activities after 7 p.m. Due to these cancellations, the 2019 Sadie’s Dance, at West Linn High School was forced to be cancelled and rescheduled.

“There was no real issue with rescheduling,” Annie Kaiser, West Linn’s Leadership teacher, said. “We just had to find a day when the Aux. Gym was available.”

The dance will immediately follow the Lake Oswego vs. West Linn basketball game and will end at 11 p.m. Admission to get in will be $5 at the door. You must have your student ID to be admitted to the dance.

Originally, the theme for the dance was Safari Sadie’s, to incorporate the theme for the Amazing Race that was going on at the time. Since the Amazing Race is now over, Sadie’s was changed back to the traditional, ’80s Sadie’s.

“The dance was suppose to go with Friday’s theme of Africa for the Amazing Race,” Kaiser said. “The ASB officers decided to change it to the 80’s theme like recent years. It would be easier for students to put together an outfit for an ’80s theme over Safari.”

There is now an option for guests from other schools to attend. The guest passes are due by the end of the day Wednesday, Feb. 20.

“We didn’t advertise about guest passes for the first Sadie’s,” Kaiser said. “We were busy planning the Amazing Race, and guest passes for the dance was a detail that didn’t really occur to us.”

There is no snow in the forecast, the rescheduled 2019 Sadie’s Dance will be taking place right after the basketball game.
