Oregon Thespian State Improvisation Festival

Thommie Olson, senior, placed first at the Oregon Thespian State Improvisation Festival held on Oct. 1. Emma Resk, sophomore, came in third and Michael Taylor, freshman, and Brad Stone, junior, were both finalists.
“Our students not only showed off their professionalism and rock-star acting skills, but represented WLHS with the best character possible,” Jessica Murray, theater arts program director, said. More than 20 high schools attended totaling nearly 300 theatre students. Students were divided into groups and then asked to put together an improvised scene inspired by a random Wikipedia article. After two rounds in front of judges, the best seven groups performed their skit for the audience.
