Cast of “Distracted” announced

On the heels of its successful production of “Little Shop of Horrors,” the West Linn Theatre Department is already beginning a new show. The play is called “Distracted,” and its company consists of nine actors. Jon Ares, Performing Arts Technical Coordinator, will be directing.

“Distracted,” written by Lisa Loomer, is about a couple (Ashley Welp and Thommie Olson, seniors) who worry their child, Jesse (Noah Radcliffe, fifth grade), might have ADD, but are dubious about giving him prescription medications. In their quest for alternatives to help their son, they consult a slew of doctors (Camille Bradshaw and Ryan Pierson, seniors, Melissa Cozzi, junior).

“It is a comedy,” Ares said, “but about a very serious matter that will no doubt raise questions in everyone’s mind, as to whether we’re too eager to medicate our way through life, or if Jesse is just your typical, creative, energetic 9-year-old boy.”

“Distracted” will run April 26, 27 and 28 at 7 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre.
