Maryland Nights
The leaves crunch beneath
My feet as I walk
Through the forest and
Feel every breath of the
Wind-
So cold,
It makes
Me want to freeze
To death.
The wind chimes;
Their death song vibrant
Shatter the wind-
So slowly; so delicately-
That I want to travel
Through the darkness of
The neverending forest
To find their haunting
Sound.
Yet, I don’t-
For I know what awaits
Me at the place
Where the darkness ends.
The legend we have eaten, slept,
And even dreamt.
