Sprinting into the fifth place spot at Lane Community College on Nov. 2, the Boys Cross Country Team finished with four runners in the top 60 at the OSAA 6A State Championship meet. Roman Ollar, sophomore, ran an impressive time of 15:55 securing eighth as an individual. This qualifies him for the Border Clash meet; an elite meet that only the top 15 runners in each state are guaranteed a spot for. Grayson Ollar, sophomore, dashed into 22ndwith a time of 16:27 qualifying to be an alternate at Border Clash. After being beat at Districts by Grant West Linn edged out them out by a nine point margin. “It was good to beat Grant after they had won at Districts.” Conor Egan, sophomore, stated.

Aloha High School’s top five runners tied West Linn’s five top runners.

“They [Aloha] won because their sixth runner beat our sixth runner.” Michael Sullivan, senior captain, said. “It shows that we both received 148 points however their sixth runner was ahead of ours.”

Egan placed third on the team with a time of 16:47. Jacob Evans, junior, ran a personal best  17:04 placing 60th. The last person to score for West Linn was John Goetze, senior, with a time of 17:25.

Johanna Briscoe, freshman, ended her season with a time of 20:16 placing 40th. With that time, she secured her spot as the fifth best freshman girl in the state.

“I just tried to race as fast as I could,” Briscoe said. “It was good to have the experience and hopefully I will do better next year.”
