Boys basketball advances past Sheldon 57-49, heading to the state quarterfinals

The West Linn Boys Varsity Basketball Team (22-4, 13-1 Three Rivers League) is heading to the state quarterfinals after a 57-49 win over Sheldon (16-11,10-4 Southwest Conference), which was a rematch of last year’s state championship game.
Led by Payton Pritchard, junior, with 30 points, the Lions overcame Sheldon’s comeback efforts to earn the win. Up 36-34 at the half, the Lions outscored the Irish by six in the second half.
The Lions will play Southridge (22-4, 12-2 Metro League) in the Chiles Center at the University of Portland, Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the state quarterfinals. If they win, they will advance to the state semifinals, Friday at 1:30 p.m.
