WLHSnow

Brooke McKelvey
Going from soccer practice, to softball practice and then finally home to practice her trumpet, Brooke McKelvey, senior, is definitely not a lazy person. “I’ve been playing trumpet for six years,” McKelvey said. “I’ve been playing softball for nine years and soccer for 12 years.” McKelvey plays in the symphonic band and will be playing in the pit orchestra for the school musical “Spamalot.” She has been a member of WLHSnow since her freshman year and is now a Co-Editor-in-Chief. She also went on a European tour this summer with students from the band here and at other schools. “It was amazing,” McKelvey said. “I was in Europe with some of my best friends and I got to play my trumpet while I was there. My favorite country was Switzerland by far. We had a lot more free time while in Switzerland and it was really nice to see everything there. When we were in London and Venice it was so crazy that we didn’t get to relax. It was super nice to just go on beautiful hikes and walk around adorable little towns in Switzerland.” McKelvey studies French in high school and hopes to continue studying it while in college. “French is one of my favorite classes,” McKelvey said. “I want to major in French and environmental studies. Even though I am not pursuing a career in journalism, the skills I have learned in the past four years such as leadership and good writing.” McKelvey hopes to return to Europe one day, preferably with a study abroad program with her college. Even though we only have her for one more year, McKelvey has been a huge part of WLHSnow and we are thrilled to have her on staff with us.
