“Discovering the truth and hearing every side of the story has always been deeply important to me,” Caroline Betty, freshman and first year journalist said. This is what prompted her to sign up for journalism and begin her journey as a reporter.

However, journalism isn’t her only interest. Betty also has a passion for equestrian riding, specifically English-style riding (although she is not a member of the West Linn team) and spending Saturdays helping out the less fortunate. “It’s truly incredible to hear all of the stories of people who have been out in the world, and lived through hard times and experiences so different than mine,” Betty said.

The stories of these people are what inspire her to follow her passion and continue to listen to others’ pasts and share their adventures with the world.

“Everyone has something to share and contribute to society, I simply want to give them a voice,” Betty said. She aspires to tell the tales of others in a way that captures their experiences and gives the reader a new perspective.

Although Betty is unsure if journalism will become her permanent career, she will continue to pursue it, and continue to grow as a writer and a journalist.
