It’s is that same thing every day for Sophia Sucevich, freshman. Stressful school then five hours of dance.

“Dancing is what I grew up with, I am going on eleven years at Grande Finale Dance Studio in Gladstone,” Sucevich said.

Before moving to West Linn I went to a private elementary school, called Saint John the Apostle, Sucevich had a hard time reading and writing. She was reading and writing at a third grade level in fifth grade.

“My eyes could not follow the words on the page, and writing was not my strong point,” Sucevich said. “Dance was my break from the constant pressure of school.”

“School was very stressful for me, it gave me headaches, and bad stress levels,” Sucevich said.

Sucevich got a tutor and went to vision therapy for two years. In sixth grade she left her private school and and went to Rosemont Ridge Middle School.

“I was struck with the love of reading and writing in seventh grade when I started to understand how to comprehend the information I was receiving,” Sucevich said.

Since then she has wrote a report on almost every book she has read over the last two years, over 20 books a year.

“I started writing reports and reviews about the books I was reading, I really enjoyed it, and I hope to make journalism a part of my life,” Sucevich said.
