Other than the influence of his older brother, Connor Whitbey, sophomore, joined the WLHS Amplifier staff because of its freedom in writing.

“I can write about whatever I want and I think that’s really cool,” he said.

“Fulfilling the legacy of my older brother Kenney, (a former Amplifier editor), is also part of the reason I joined,” Whitbey said.

Although he first became involved with the paper as part of a family tradition, he has learned that journalism truly plays an important role in society. “Expanding ideas and words,” he said, “is important to the community.”

When he’s not working on homework or following sports online, Whitbey practices lacrosse with his friends. “I love to go to the wall and practice Lacrosse with my friends on my free time,” he said.

Although he is gifted in writing, Whitbey has different aspirations for the future. Hoping to become an aerospace engineer, Whitbey makes an effort in his grades to someday attend an engineering four-year college like The University of Washington.
