Though sports have always been her main focus, Audrey Lippert, freshman, is looking forward to branching out and following one of her other passions: writing.

“Sports have always been a huge part of my family,” Lippert said. “Coming into High School I wanted to get back into writing, and journalism was the perfect opportunity.”

Writing has always been something that has interested Lippert, but she hasn’t had the chance to get more involved since she was a part of her school newspaper at Trillium Creek in fifth grade. When she was there she got the opportunity to write about things that interested her such as current events along with opinion articles. Now joining journalism she gets to have that experience again, but on a larger scale.

“Writing was kind of put in the back of my mind as I started middle school. Now I have the chance to put it in the front again and to start getting involved,” Lippert said.

Middle school was a very hectic time for Lippert. Between concussions, having real grades for the first time, and starting lacrosse, she didn’t have time for much else. Writing was still a part of her life through school, but she no longer had the time or place to share her opinions and write about topics other than the ones assigned to her.

“Part of the reason why I love writing so much is that I get to share my opinions and ideas. Now I have the opportunity to do that,” Lippert said.

Joining journalism is the perfect way for Lippert to share her ideas and get more involved. She is very excited to get back into writing and start at WLHSnow.
