Dillon Wells

Dillon Wells, Staff Reporter

No matter the weather, (which is usually rainy in Dillon Well’s hometown), you can always find the junior in front of an electronic screen, working on the next great American novel. Or at least, he prays to the literature gods it will become the next great American novel.

“I can’t remember when I first started writing for fun,” Wells said. “It’s just always been a part of my life. When I was a kid I would read books and try to make my own version of them. Later on I started writing stories that were more personal to me.”

Wells enjoys fiction writing the most, specifically sci-fi and urban fantasy.

“I enjoy writing because it’s an escape,” Wells said. “It’s a way to forget about homework and grades. Even if it’s just an hour a day.”

Wells joined the journalism class out of curiosity. After taking two years of creative writing, he hopes to expand his experience into a different direction.

“Journalistic writing has never interested me before,” Wells said. “I like fiction writing for the freedom. How much creative freedom can I have when I’m just giving facts?”

Regardless of this, Wells hopes to learn new things by joining. When he is not writing, he spends his time either at the archery range, camping in the great outdoors, or at home, binge watching his favorite Netflix shows.
