Shooting goes off at Portland street racing event
Early in the morning on March 28th, 2022 gun shots went off hitting four people in the crowd of a street racing event. The event known as t5 had become so popular that in 2018, Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell released a video addressing the street racing, and their attempts to stop the illegal event.
Problems have resurfaced when police collected over 100 bullet casings at the event on North Marine Drive.
Portland police believe that this shooting had to do with gang violence and have arrested a suspect, 21-year-old Adrian Dangelo Ramirez.
Hospitals have reported four victims after the shooting — one an 11-year-old boy who was injured by shrapnel from the bullets. Also a 16-year-old, and 18 year old were shot, but they survived the injuries.
