Kelan Betts
Betts has been a three year varsity soccer player, and this fall she was one of four team captains for the team. They ended up finishing second in state as they fell short to #1 ranked Jesuit High School in the 6A state championship. She was second team TRL all-league midfielder her junior year and she is committed to Pacific Lutheran University (PLU).
“I wanted a balance between soccer and school,” Betts said. “They have a really good kinesiology program and soccer team, plus it’s close to home and I love the coaching staff.”
She has many goals for her college athletics.
“[I want to] win as many championships as possible, be a leader on and off the field all four years and see how far I can go with the sport,” Betts said.
She also spoke highly of the West Linn staff— specifically Brandon Smith and Jacob Smeragilo.
“Our staff provides flexibility and support to help encourage us to be our best,” Betts said.
Betts has always been passionate about soccer. She started playing when she was just four years old. She now plays for North West Elite Club National League.
“I was a freshman in high school when I really got serious about getting recruited,” Betts said.
Now, as a senior she has achieved her goal.
