Jackson Shelstad

Shelstad is participating in his fourth year on the basketball team. He also played his second year of football in the fall, winning TRL first team corner despite not competing in football since his freshman year. Shelstad is currently committed to the University of Oregon for basketball.

“I just had a mesh relationship with the staff,” Shelstad said. “I’ve known them since I was younger.”

Shelstad grew up around West Linn alum and Boston Celtics player, Payton Pritchard. Shelstad is following in Pritchard’s footsteps as he also attended the University of Oregon. Pritchard gave Jackson an opportunity to get close to the coaching staff at Oregon.

Shelstad assisted the team in beating nationally ranked teams like Duncanville, Texas, and Sierra Canyon, California. Shelstad has a chance to win his second Oregon Gatorade player of the year award after winning the award last season. The Gatorade player is a player who has athletic excellence, academic achievement and exemplary character, according to playeroftheyear.gatorade.com

“I want to be remembered as a hard worker and kid who wants to win,” Shelstad said.
