Tonight, the West Linn Lions (2-2, 0-0 Three Rivers League) will take on the Lake Oswego Lakers (1-3, 0-0 TRL) in a critical road conference game, 7 pm at Lake Oswego High School.
Lake Oswego has lost to top state competition such as Jesuit, Central Catholic and Southridge and its only victory is over Olympia (Wash.) High School, 7-6. The Lakers were beaten by more than ten points against Southridge and Central Catholic.
The Lions are on a two game winning streak with wins over Barlow, 42-28, and South Salem, 58-9. Quarterback Hayden Coppedge, senior, is second in state in passing yards with 1,203 yards and ten touchdowns. Louie Germain has amassed 546 yards and 12 touchdowns.
In the last two meetings with LO, West Linn has been outscored 69-0 and hasn’t put up a single point in 11 quarters dating back to 2010.
When the Lakers took on the Lions in the 2010 season, LO barely came out alive with a 7-6 win. Critical mistakes cost West Linn the game. The Lions have not beaten Lake Oswego since 1999 with 55-35 win.
