Boys ski team places first overall; girls place sixth
On a cold, wet Saturday in January, the Boys and Girls Ski teams headed up to Mt. Hood Meadows for their weekly races. Lincoln High School and Catlin Gabel School hosted the meet on Shooting Star Ridge. Both the boys and girls teams took part in the giant slalom with the boys team (2-0) placing first overall in the event.
As a team, the boys posted a time of 1:32.34, over three seconds ahead of second place finisher Lakeridge. Trevor Maxwell, senior, recorded an individual time of 30.05 seconds (good for second individually), Chris McNabb, junior, had a time of 30.90 seconds (third individually) and Grant McDonald had a 31.39 second run (fifth overall). Maxwell finished just .35 seconds behind first place, but second overall was still enough to push the Lions into first place as a team.
The girls’ team highest finisher individually was Emily Jordan, junior, who placed 16th with a time of 37.92 seconds. Right behind Jordan was Ellery Ross, sophomore, who posted a 39.19 second run. As a team, the girls placed sixth overall with a time of 1:59.28 seconds.
This week’s race will be held Saturday at Mt. Hood Meadows on Easy Rider with the event being the slalom race. Lincoln and Catlin Gabel will again host the meet.
