Led by Payton Pritchard, Lions dominate Timberwolves
For the 31st game in a row, the West Linn Lions Boys Basketball Team (10-4) beat an Oregon team Tuesday night against the Tualatin Timberwolves (9-4) 82-63.
The Lions were in control after the first quarter, holding an eight point lead, 24-16. Payton Pritchard, junior, was the game’s leading scorer with 29 points as he helped West Linn dismantle Tualatin. When the third quarter rolled around, the Lions had a commanding 45-33 lead and never trailed for the rest of the game. The Lions held the Timberwolves to just 12 fourth quarter points, halting any comeback thoughts that Tualatin had. With the victory, West Linn hasn’t lost a league game since 2013, a 68-55 loss to Lake Oswego. Since that game, the Lions have won 16 straight league games over a two year span.
West Linn’s next game will be against the Lake Oswego Lakers (8-6) at Lake Oswego High School at 6:45 p.m. The Lakers recently fired head coach Mark Shoff after controversy arose when he appeared to shove a player at the Les Schwab Tournament earlier this month. Laker assistant coaches will lead the time for the time being until another coach is hired.
