Despite having the bases loaded, the team was unable to score any runs. “It’s just the beginning of the season. We’re just going to be playing out best by June, [and] that’s where champions are,” Rowe said.

Myrtle Guarisco, senior, and Eloise Guarisco, sophomore, play ‘A duet in D Major.’ This performance took place around 30 minutes after their act with the Woodland Quintet 1, similarly to other students who had multiple performances throughout the day. “We just picked a piece that we both liked, and it wasn't too heavy,” Myrtle said. “The parts were pretty equal and there were some pretty harmonies. It was fun to play with my sister.”

Constructed in 1869, Lee Farms has been in the community for a while. The company has been expanding its farm and bringing in old and new customers. “I was here with my parents during my childhood and now I'm planning on taking my kids here,” a patron said.

Running amuck: A toy doll rides a tricycle, in the center of the Carriage Way Cemetery. The toy doll was a free listing on Craigslist, among other dolls. “It was a little creepy, just a box of doll parts, but I saw the potential and took it home,” Knowles said.

Coloring traditions. Created from pine branches in Ecuador, the crayons are lightweight. Similar items come with hand-carved and painted tropical animals made of balsa wood. World of HeARTs also sells coloring books made of elephant dung that talk about the Sri Lankan elephant, appealing to younger audiences. The business is active in the community and participated in the Downtown Willamette trick-or-treating in October by handing out coloring pages kids could return with for a discount on their purchase. “It has just been a positive experience all the way around and we’re big supporters of our local community,” May said.
