West Linn falls to Sherwood for first loss of the season
The West Linn Lion Varsity Football team (5-1, 3-1 Three Rivers League) traveled to take on the Sherwood Bowmen(4-2, 3-1 TRL) last Friday. Unfortunately, West Linn could not pull out the win, losing to Sherwood, 34-32.
Quarterback Tim Tawa, sophomore, had a big game with 337 passing yards including one passing touchdown to Connor Berggren, junior, and a rushing touchdown from nine yards out. Running back Elijah Molden, sophomore, also showed up in a big fashion. Molden finished the night with 100 yards rushing and three touchdowns.
Despite a combined 35 points from Molden and Tawa, two missed point-after touchdowns and a missed two point conversion cost the Lions four points. West Linn shot themselves in the foot, as Chris Miller, Head Coach, told The Oregonian after the game.
“We stopped ourselves with penalties or mistakes or dropped balls here and there in the second half,” Miller said.
This week, the Lions will take on #2 ranked Tigard Tigers (6-0, 4-0 TRL) on homecoming night at West Linn at 7 p.m.
