2020: A year in review
To wrap up 2020, podcast and blogs editor Audrey Lippert and web editor Karina Rower break down the year, month by month, listing important events that took place in each of them. Though the COVID-19 pandemic made the biggest headlines this year, elections and impeachments will also define this year and our country for decades to come.
Closer to home, wildfires ravaged local forests and forced evacuations for thousands of people in Oregon. Social media apps got involved with politics as the popular video sharing app Tik Tok was nearly banned by President Trump multiple times, users also organized a protest on the platform, encouraging people to reserve seats at a Trump rally and not attend.
The Black Lives Matter movement gained traction after the police killing of George Floyd, and protests and riots were organized across the country in response. For a more in depth look on all of these events and more, listen to Lippert and Rower on the West Linn Weekly Wake Up using the Spotify link below.
