West Linn Varsity Baseball beats archrival Lake Oswego to secure TRL Championship
At Brown field on Monday, the West Linn Lions (13-11) took on the visiting Lake Oswego Lakers (16-8). This was the first of three meetings between the two rivals.
The game started with the Lakers scoring off a passed ball in the third inning to put them up 1-0. Lions starting pitcher Karsen Lindell, junior, battled all night striking out six Laker batters over six innings and allowing only two earned runs. When the bottom of the sixth inning rolled around the Lions were down 3-0.
After Braden Vogt, senior, and Timothy Tawa, freshman, reached base, Lindell scorched a double in the left centerfield gap to bring them both home. Lindell stole third and scored on a wild pitch to even the score at three apiece.
The Lions would load the bases up later in the inning and drew two straight hit by pitches to stretch the Lions lead to 5-3. Trevor Wells, sophomore, came in to close out the top of seventh inning to seal the victory for the Lions.
The Lion’s await their playoff seeding. Stay tuned to West Linn High School Amplifier for more information.
