The womens varsity basketball team hosted their second to last home game this season against Oregon City on Feb. 25, with a win of 54—20, continuing their winning streak against the team after defeating them in their last game on Jan 31.
The Lions have won almost every league game this season, marking their eighth-place rank in the 6A league.
Prior to the game, Reese Jordan, junior, was recognized for reaching 1000 career points at the previous league game against Tigard. Jordan continued to help her team score during the game, helping them earn another victory.
“I think we did good. I think we came out with a lot of energy. We did what we were supposed to do, so that felt good,” Jordan said.
Ayla Arnold, junior, has been on the varsity team as the shooting guard since her freshman year, and is the shooting guard for this season.
“I feel like our team played really well together, and we’re pushing tempo and just making it hard for them through our defense and just really picking up our energy,” Arnold said.
Near the end of the game, some of the JV players went in as substitutes for the varsity team.
“Since our JV players went in at the end, we had a lot of energy on the bench, which was really cool,” Jordan said. “I feel like that brings a lot of confidence for them, so that was really good.”
The Tualatin Timberwolves are ranked third in the 6A league, the only team above the Lions in the Three Rivers League (TRL). After losing their last game against Tualatin, their only loss this season, the team has their last league game of the season on Feb. 28 against the Timberwolves.
“It’s probably our biggest game [this season]. Tualatin is our biggest competition in our league right now, so it’s always exciting playing them, and we get to play them at home. So I think that’s really big,” Arnold said.

![MORE THAN A GAME. With two diving catches in the outfield, the Lions showed up defensively, aiding in their victory over the Pacers. One catch was made by Atwood, and the other by McGraw. Throughout the game, the Lions knew that it wasn’t just about their victory today. “I think [playing for cancer] makes it bigger than just a game,” McGraw said. “Knowing that you have a bigger impact in this world than just who you are as one person.”](https://wlhsnow.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/I70A1454-1-1200x800.jpg)

The students brought a variety of paints and mixed their own custom colors. “Instead of brushstrokes, we’re doing more dabbing, because it gives [a] better impression of tree foliage, rather than looking like actual brush strokes, because if we’re painting trees, we need it to look like trees,” Crawford said.](https://wlhsnow.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/IMG_2397-1200x900.jpg)
