West Linn dominates Sherwood in Semifinals
After what should have been the toughest game of the year, West Linn (12-1, 6-1 Three Rivers League) advances to the OSAA State Championship game for the first time in history. The Lions defeated Sherwood (12-1, 7-0 TRL) 51-7 in the semifinals at Providence Park last Saturday.
Quarterback Tim Tawa, junior, threw for over three hundred yards with three passing touchdowns and was named Moda Health player of the game. Receiver Connor Berggren, senior, caught all three passing touchdowns.
The Lions defense didn’t allow a single touchdown throughout the first half and third quarter. Only the fourth quarter produced any points for the Bowmen but West Linn had a vast lead of 37 points at that point.
Providence Park will host the final game in the playoff series Saturday Dec. 5. First ranked Jesuit (13-0, 7-0 Metro League) will face off against third ranked West Linn at 12:00 p.m.
