Lucy Forest, senior, is the Copy Editor for wlhsNOW and the Awards Committee Chair. This is her second year in journalism and her first on the board.  This year she looks forward to writing, editing, and bettering her skills in photography. Outside of journalism, Forest is on the board of the symphonic choir and enjoys singing and reading. In the future, she hopes to use her writing skills to get a job in the publishing industry.

Brooke Loun, sophomore, choreographed the Chess Club’s performance of the song “Mah Na Mah Na” from “The Muppets.” “It was really exciting for me to take this on,” Loun said. “It was a little stressful because I had to choreograph everything, but it was fun.”

Reaching out. Members of the Japanese Culture Club perform a traditional dance dressed in matching blue traditional Japanese festival wear. This was the Japanese Culture Club’s first year competing, as they’re a new club. Club President Kira Sato, junior, planned out and helped lead the performance with two other club members. “We’re pretty small right now, but we’re hoping to expand,” Sato said. “I really like the close community and how even people who aren't Japanese can participate in our culture.”

Feel the beat. Members of the Latin Student Union (LSU) perform a choreographed dance routine to two different songs. LSU was the reigning champion of last year’s Clubs Got Talent and was the first to perform at this year’s competition. Mariel Garcia, senior, performed with the group for the second year in a row. She also joined the Lions dance team this year. “I can help people clean up or find alternative moves for them if they don’t feel like they can do something, and help with the rhythm a bit,” Garcia said.
