Eleanor Terner

The llamas charge toward her, she jumps out of the way to avoid the stampede- but it’s just another Saturday for Terner Eleanor, sophomore. Terner has volunteered at her 4h llama ranch for 5 years and otherwise spends her free time volunteering at KEY club, or watching the occasional tv series on Netflix.

“I find the greatest joy when working with animals,” Terner comments. Growing up as an animal lover, she has wanted to work in zoology or biology all her life. Terner also enjoys English and writing classes, and when her English teacher recommended taking Journalism as a sophomore, she knew it would be the perfect chance to improve on her writing. Terner, while currently taking Journalism 1, has friends in Journalism 2 and 3 and is looking forward to spending time with them. “My friends tell me Journalism is a fun and unique class with a family-like atmosphere, and I’m looking forward to experiencing that with them.”

What makes life worthwhile? Beloved Ulinwa, senior, presents his take on the question as part of the Honors Humanities project. According to Devon Berny, senior, the class “got that question by everyone voting on it. It could have been any question that you have in the world basically or anything you wonder.” Each project represents the answer to the class’s question with free interpretation to how they portray their answer.

Students finish off their final project for honors humanity by answering the question- “what is your purpose?” through various mediums of presentation. Through interacting with others to reflect their personal traits or get external input, or simply reflecting on their personal beliefs, students illustrated a diverse set of beliefs and projects. Pictured above: Beloved Ulinwa, senior, watches a project by one of the students that chose a multimedia presentation.

As Shorts rehearsals are finishing up, one group of actors prepare for “If Hamlet had been a Reading”, directed by Linda Snyder senior. Since cast lists were posted on April 7, students have been preparing every day after school with their groups. “The rehearsal process has been really fun,” Kierra Kohen, freshman, said. “In rehearsal we run the short and do character work. To rehearse at home, I read my lines and solidify the blocking.”
