The dance team qualified for state for the fifth time in a row. Performing their show dance with the theme of chess, and hip hop, they embarked on their journey to Salem.
Leaving on the 20th and 22nd with only a few days of their season left, they won sixth place in their division.
Kai Debney, sophomore, has been a member of the team since her freshman year.
“It’s a really fun and great bonding experience,” Debney said.
Everyone on the team works together to make the team better and provide a sense of comfort for practices and competitions.
Having practice every day, the team works together to improve on form and establish a good environment.
Lily Walsh, senior, is a captain of the dance team and has the responsibility of supporting the group.
“Making sure they are supported and know their choreography is the captain’s main job,” Walsh said.
Karalee Kyllo, one of the coaches of the team, pushes her dancers to improve. The team spends a lot of time together, practicing together four to five days a week for three to five hours. Evelyn Morlan, senior, is a captain of the team.
“I feel like we have a connection with everyone on the team,” Evelyn Morlan, senior, said.
The coaches and dancers perform for the last time as a whole at the state competition before saying their farewell to the team’s seniors.
“Saying goodbye to our coaches is going to be super hard, They are just being so supportive and wonderful,” Walsh said.
Although state competitions have wrapped up, the dance team will still perform its annual routine at May Day in the upcoming month.
