Girls Varsity Tennis Team looks to win league title
The girls Varsity Tennis Team is looking to Ellen Rowan, sophomore, who is now the Lions number one ranked player, to lead the Lions to win the league title. The Class of 2014, who had an individual district champion, left big shoes to fill.
“Ellen is a very consistent player with a lot of skill. Her serve and volley are excellent and her ability to stay in the game from point to point makes her a very valuable member to our team,” Linn Beswick head coach, said.
The young team is led by Montgomery Lee Todd, sophomore, Miranda Ounophome, sophomore, Theresa Li, freshman. According to Beswick, the Varsity team is fairly young, but returns Sophia McFadden, junior, and Mia Palmer, junior.
“The team as a whole is a stronger more connected team,” McFadden said. “We are all really good friends outside of tennis so we have great chemistry on the court as well.”
The Lions took third in league last year behind Lakeridge and Lake Oswego, but hope to win the league title this year.
The Lions beat St. Mary’s on March 19, and Lakeridge on March 31. They play Tigard on April 8 at Tigard at 4 p.m.
