“Watching, playing and now covering sports has been a passion of’ mine since the day I heard touchdown from the television. Personally I never thought that broadcasting and journalism would be something that I would fall in love with. Over the years, I’ve played football, however since I’m “vertically challenged” at 5’9, I constantly found myself on the sidelines,” Edwards said. “I even tried basketball (even tougher), and then eventually I stuck with lacrosse which opened up opportunities that I never thought possible. I decided to get involved with the sports broadcast and a journalism program at West Linn High School. My family instilled a passion for sports and competition, and I soon discovered that I would grow a desire for much more.”
Over the past years, the broadcast team has developed into one of the top ranked broadcasting teams in the country, Now being recognized as an elite program from NFHS Network. Edwards has covered college football games across the country, and high school state championship games with stations such as 1080 The Fan and ESPN.
“High school broadcasting has changed the way I watch athletics as well. I’ve learned how to put useful information in at the right times, what phrases work in certain situations, and how to correctly prepare information for each broadcast to make our viewers tune in to our network, for the next big game.”
