Elections this year gave many possible firsts for the United States. One of them being the first LGBT governor being elected. Kate Brown, Democratic Ore. governor, became the first LGBT candidate to win a gubernatorial election. Brown obtained the governor position with a close race against Bud Pierce, Republican candidate, winning by just 100 thousand votes. The second female African-American senator Kamala Harris of Calif., was also elected winning with an overwhelming 1 million votes. Another African-American senator, Tim Scott, Democrat, was elected. Scott obtained the senator position for North Carolina winning with one million 1.2 million votes.
