“It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” (1966)

It does not get much better than watching the adventures of Charlie Brown and Snoopy during Halloween. With it only being 25 minutes long there is no reason not to watch. “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” gets a zero out of five on the scary scale.

“Beetlejuice” (1988)

“Shining” (1980)

“The Shining” is one of the most iconic and well-regarded horror movies. The movie not only brings horror, but a physiological thriller and mystery that will surely have you on the edge of your seat. “The Shining” is nearly 40 years old, but holds up very well and is still scary to watch, giving it a five out of five on the scary scale.

“Halloween” (1978)

“Halloween” is the first movie telling the story of Micheal Meyers, which will go on to be remade ten different times. The first Halloween is arguably the best before you watch any of the remakes. Halloween is a scary movie, but slightly dated, leaving it with a scary scale three out of five.

“Scream” (1996)

“Scream” is the first of a four-movie long series that is a great Halloween watch. “Scream” does a great job of mixing comedy with suspense and horror.  “Scream” is a fun movie to watch with friends, but will also fill your Halloween hunger for horror. Scream gives comedy relief to the horror with how over the top it can be lending it a Scary Scale three out of five.

“Ghostbusters” (1984)

“Ghostbusters” is a fun movie to watch with your family on Halloween. Bill Murray steals the show, making it worth the movie watchers time and money with his performance alone.  “Ghostbusters” is all in all a classic movie that is perfect to watch during Halloween. It is a fun movie that is not trying to be scary giving it a one out of five.

“Halloween Town” (1998)

“Casper” (1995)

“Casper” is another example of a fun Halloween movie. Casper the friendly ghost is a young charming ghost who the viewer falls in love with.  If you are looking for a scare this is the wrong movie, getting zero out of five on the scary scale, but it is still a must-watch for the spooky season.

“Coraline” (2009)

“Coraline” is a 2009 PG movie that many people of our generation will remember as being very scary when we were children. Nowadays, the fear factor may be gone but what’s left is a very satisfying plot that leaves the viewer with a good message. It features Dakota Fanning as Coraline, as she tries to adjust to her new life in our own home state of Oregon. This movie has two out of five on the scary scale, but it is great as a nostalgia trip.
