Aidan Whittemore, sophomore, moved from Reno, Nev. to West Linn, Ore. a few months ago. “They say that Reno’s the ‘biggest little city in the world,’” Whittemore said. “Every time we went out, somebody would stop and say hi. My parents knew everyone.”

One thing Whittemore likes about West Linn is how small it is.

“I really haven’t had a chance to explore the city,” Whittemore said. “It’s a tight-knit community...I haven’t been able to really fully immerse myself in the community yet. Everybody seems really passionate here.”

She has been able to explore some of Portland. “I got lost in [the Rose Garden] for a few hours. Powell’s is just great. There are some really great restaurants.”

Whittemore’s family moved to Oregon because it had more job prospects. “Whenever [Dad] got a job interview, I pulled up a list of the best high schools in the state. School is really important to me. I do have a pretty intense work ethic,” Whittemore said.

The transition has come with an increase in schoolwork. “It’s a lot of work,” she said. “I’m not necessarily taking harder classes, but there’s more work here.”

In West Linn and Nevada, Whittemore has a lot of family members.. “I have one brother and two sisters. People don’t believe me when I say I have 17 cousins and counting. My mom’s family is ginormous and so is my dad’s.”

Given the size of her family, it’s probably a good thing that Whittemore is good with names and faces. “I actually am abnormally good. It frightens people.”

Matthew Lewis (sixth) promposing to his girlfriend Tina Glausi (fourth) on Splash Mountain in Disneyland with the rest of the Glausi family. When he did the promposal, Glausi said, I put the pieces together. My little sister was in on it too, which I thought was funny. Before we went on the ride, she was like, Tina you should sit by me! so Matthew could be far enough back that he could put up the poster.
