The Speech and Debate Team sent five students to Silverton High to compete on Saturday, Nov. 19, and each one of them met some success.
Elise Brown, junior, won first place in Original Oratory for her speech, “In Defense of Socialism.”
Eric Dale, freshman, was a finalist in Radio Commentary for his commentary about drug abuse.
Daniel Nguyen, sophomore, was a finalist for Impromptu. Nguyen has previously won first and third place prizes for this event.
Hugh Sherman and Colin Martin, freshmen, won two of their four Public Debate rounds.
The team hopes to continue their successes this Saturday, Dec. 3, at Clackamas High, and the weekend after in Ridgefield, Wash.
