Students of Julie McDevitt, science teacher, wrote notes of encouragement after McDevitt’s dirt biking accident. This poster has been adapted for the “West Linn Strong” campaign, which encourages the WLHS community to overcome all challenges.

While on a dirt biking trip this weekend, Julie McDevitt, science teacher, sustained several injuries including a concussion and broken tibia. She was Life Flighted from her location and moved to a hospital in Bend.

McDevitt will have surgery next week for her tibia. Administrators are unsure of how long she will be away from school. Yesterday, husband Shawn McDevitt, science teacher, returned to school and said that McDevitt may visit her classes before Thanksgiving break.

“This staff always rallies to support staff members in cases of personal injuries, accidents and tragedies,” Lou Bailey, principal, said. “I am sure folks will rally to support the McDevitts when they get back home.”
