Homecoming on Oct. 23 is a great time for students to support their school and have fun

Homecoming will feature Voodoo Donuts and Jamba Juice.

Students enjoy last year’s homecoming dance under the large white tent on the baseball field. Homecoming is on Oct. 23 and the dance will be held after the football game. “Students can expect homecoming to be fun, loud, and exciting,” Kylie Fretwell, Sophomore Class Director, Assistant to Public Relations and Assistant to Spirit Squad, said.

Putting on a nice dress or shirt, then going to dinner, and dancing with a date is how most schools celebrate homecoming, but that’s not how it’s done at West Linn High School. On Oct. 23 there will be an informal dance will be held immediately after the football game under a tent on the baseball field.
“Students can expect homecoming to be fun, loud, and exciting,” Kylie Fretwell, Sophomore Class Director, Assistant to Public Relations and Assistant to Spirit Squad, said. “Also, the first students who attend the tailgater get a free t-shirt.”
Before students dance the night away, they’ll also be able to enjoy delicious refreshments at a food tailgater starting at 4 p.m.
“The food tailgater will have Voodoo Donuts and Jamba juice this year, which is another reason to go,” Fretwell said.
Homecoming is a way to continue West Linn’s traditions of a casual spirited dance after the football game. Last year, the dance was similar to this year’s. This year’s dance will feature new music and a whole new class of freshman.
“The great thing about homecoming is that you can continue with traditions, but is always a brand new thing for 25 percent of our students,” Fretwell said. “Homecoming is also a great chance for alumni to come back and visit West Linn.”
This year there will still be a homecoming court.
“Court nominations will be up on the WLHS website home page on Thursday Oct. 15,” Fretwell said. “The dance will cost $10 to get in and students should go because it will be a lot of fun.”
