The 2024 Grammys was held on Feb. 4 at Crypto.com Arena.

On the evening of Feb. 4, the highly anticipated 66th annual Grammy Awards was seen everywhere on social media platforms with a duet from Luke Combs and Tracy Chapman, a first Grammy win for Miley Cyrus, and a special announcement from Taylor Swift.

It was a night of iconic performances from some of the music industry’s biggest artists. Luke Combs made the top 100 on the Billboard Charts this year with his cover of “Fast Car” by Tracy Chapman, originally released in 1988. In a surprising turn, Chapman performed on stage alongside Combs, her timeless song, catering to old and new fans of the song.

Chapman was not the only artist to perform that night. Best Folk Album winner Joni Mitchell took the stage to perform her hit “Both Sides Now.” At age 80, this was her debut on the Grammy stage, again, moving both audience members and those at home.

Yet another iconic performance happened when Billy Joel performed at the Grammys for the first time in 30 years. Joel sang his newest single “Turn the Lights Back On.” He then closed the Grammys with his 1980 hit “You May Be Right.”

This year’s Grammy awards saw first time winners, repeat winners, and even what some would call snubs. Miley Cyrus won her very first Grammy with her single, “Flowers.” Although she has had eight nominations in the past, she took home her first Grammy for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

Taylor Swift dominated in nominations, winning two Grammys. Swift made history as the first artist to win album of the year four times.

Swift also announced a new album at the Grammys. When Swift showed up in black and white attire and gave her fans many “easter eggs,” it led fans to believe she was announcing a new re-recording of her 2017 album “reputation.” However, fans were shocked to hear her announce the title and release day of her brand new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” set to release April 9, 2024.

As far as snubs go, Olivia Rodrigo went into the Grammys night with the highest number of nominations at six, but went home empty-handed. Fans of Lana Del Rey also felt that she was snubbed after she was nominated five times this year and didn’t win, making it another year Del Rey has never won a Grammy.

The 66th annual Grammy award show was a success. Not only did they honor the artists of today, but also showcased some of the most famous artists of all time.
