Nine Thespians are named state finalists at the regional competition. They will attend the state competition April 6.

Weekends full of drama sound pretty terrible for most people, but for members of the Thespian troupe, it is the best kind of weekend.

Nine members of the Thespian troupe have been named state finalists after the regional competition on Feb. 3.

“I’m feeling pretty good about state,” Matthew Lewis, senior, said. “I am going to state in two events, Solo Musical and Duet Musical.”

State is one of the favorite times of year for some of the Thespians.

“I competed in Duo Comedy Experienced and Duo Musical,” Brady McDevitt, senior said. “I am super excited about going to state, it’s such a good time! State is one of my favorite things of the year.”

The Thespians have done some great work this year with the fall musical, “Spamalot,” that is based on the 1975 British comedy, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” The regional competition has been no exception to the great work they have down.

“I placed in the top 10% state qualifier for solo musical,” Matthew Snyder, junior, said. “I’m excited state is going to be fun.”

These competitions serves as a way for Thespians all over the state to come together and support one another.

“My favorite part was all of the love that complete strangers were giving us,” McDevitt said. “It is really cool to know that people don’t care about winning, they care about supporting their fellow Thespians.”

The state competition is the weekend of April 6.
