Student protesters demand political action against gun violence in Salem

Young protesters from all over the state gather at the Oregon Capitol steps to demand tougher regulations on guns. The date, April 20, marked the 19th anniversary of the shooting at Columbine High School. West Linn students held their own protest that morning, and joined others at the Capitol that afternoon. “To win the fight against the uniquely American monstrosity of gun violence,” Laila Elmashni, senior, said, “There is no other solution than to demand action from our representatives.”
