Mr. & Mrs. West Linn aims to entertain for a good cause
The annual ASB event spices this year up by adding a lip sync battle and costume days
This Saturday, 9 seniors will participate in the annual Mr. and Mrs. West Linn High School. The mock-pageant raises money for the non-profit organization Oregon Impact. The organization centers around safe driving. ASB puts on this annual event and for the second year they chose to support Oregon Impact.
Linda Snyder, senior, is excited to be apart of the community tradition, “I love that is helps the community and it is also super fun. I’m prepping my sick moves for the lip sync with my partners Deanna and Riley.” Snyder said.
The lip sync battle is a new addition to the competition this year. In years past, there has always been a talent portion but this year ASB decided a lip sync would be the most entertaining.
“I love going all out. I went to Goodwill to prep for all of the theme days,” Allison Fogarty, senior, said. “My best friend and Hadley and I are doing the lip sync battle and we have been practicing after school. It’s going to be really funny.”
The costume days this week are, senior citizen Monday, American Tuesday, Workout Wednesday, Pirate Thursday and Spirit Friday. All of the participants are carrying around buckets and asking the student body for donations. All of the donations go straight to Oregon Impact.
The event will take place on Saturday, December 10 at 7. The judges this year are Mr. Jones and the head of Oregon Impact. It is free admission with donations encouraged. It is a shining tradition for ASB and they are excited for another year.
“It is always so funny to watch. I’m so excited to participate and be able to laugh at myself on Saturday. All of the acts are really ridiculous so everyone will really enjoy it,” Tristan Waits, ASB President and contender said.
Your donation will support the student journalists of West Linn High School. Your contribution will allow us to continue to produce quality content by purchasing equipment, software, and continuing to host our website on School Newspapers Online (SNO).
