Kaleidoscope’s End of the Year Send Off
I am very thankful that I got to be the editor of our school’s literary arts magazine, the Kaleidoscope, this year. After COVID-19 hit the world and our community, the Kaleidoscope got put to a halt with its publishing and it was like it didn’t exist anymore. Returning to school as a senior in September 2021, I wanted to bring the Kaleidoscope back. Even though I am not the founder of the Kaleidoscope, as this magazine has been going on at West Linn for centuries, I felt like I brought the magazine back to life after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Being the Kaleidoscope editor at West Linn has greatly impacted my senior year in the best possible way. I have learned how to take initiative and how to be a leader. Even though I am sad to be leaving the magazine behind, I know that the new editors (Sienna Reiner, Cooper Jordan, Ava Sullivan, and Amelia Brown) will be able to take the same initiative that I had to keep the Kaleidoscope tradition going. I hope to become one of the editors of The Chrysalis, Willamette University’s Literary Arts Magazine, in the fall of 2022.

Throughout the game, the Lions knew that it wasn’t just about their victory today. “I think [playing for cancer] makes it bigger than just a game,” McGraw said. “Knowing that you have a bigger impact in this world than just who you are as one person.”](https://wlhsnow.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/I70A1454-1-1200x800.jpg)

The students brought a variety of paints and mixed their own custom colors. “Instead of brushstrokes, we’re doing more dabbing, because it gives [a] better impression of tree foliage, rather than looking like actual brush strokes, because if we’re painting trees, we need it to look like trees,” Crawford said.](https://wlhsnow.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/IMG_2397-1200x900.jpg)
