The West Linn Lions (19-5, 9-1Three Rivers League) started the game 4-4 from beyond the arc and rode that momentum for the rest of the game, defeating the visiting Canby Cougars (8-15,2-8 TRL) 73-57. With the win, the Lions secured a share of the Three Rivers League title with the Lake Oswego Lakers. The pair split their season series 1-1. Leading the way for the Lions was Hayden Coppedge, sophomore guard, who finished with 24. The Cougars, who had only four players contribute points, were led by Coby Cates, senior, who had a game high 28 points.
Tonight, the Lions will host a first round playoff game against the Roseburg Indians (9-15,3-8 Southern Oregon). Should the Lions win they will take on the winner of the Century Jaguars (21-3, 12-2 Pacific Conference) Clackamas Cavaliers (11-13,5-5 TRL) on March 3 at West Linn high school.
