The West Linn girls basketball team (16-9, 7-3 Three Rivers League) trailed 10-8 at the end of the first quarter, but out scored the visiting Centennial Bruins (10-13, 7-5 Mt. Hood Conference) 27-18 in the second and third quarters en route to a 45-35 victory in the first round of the state playoffs.
Karly Leveque, senior, led the way for the Lions with 11 points and Brittany Smith, sophomore,chipped in nine points from her guard position.
Centennial’s Chelsey Miller, junior, led all scorers with 12 points.
“It felt good. We were only taking things one day at a time and we’re ecstatic to advance,” Ashley Johnson, sophomore, said. ” We’d love an opportunity to play at the Rose Garden.”
The team’s next game is at Crater high school the Crater Comets (17-7, 8-4 Southern Oregon Conference). Should they win they’d advance to the Rose Garden.
