The West Linn Lions (17-6, 7-2 TRL) took on the Canby Cougars ( 7-15, 2-7 TRL) and every win counts for the Lions as the 2013 Oregon State Playoffs draw near.
West Linn started off right, gaining a 12 point lead in the first quarter and leading 20-8. They didn’t slow down after the first and kept the offensive attack leading into the second quarter.
Although being outscored in the second and third quarter, 18-17 in both, the Lions were still able to keep their lead after their strong first quarter, leading 37-26 at halftime.
Heading into the fourth, West Linn had a commanding 54-44 lead. They didn’t stop there, putting up 25 points and allowing only 18 points for the third straight quarter. When the final buzzer sounded, the Lions emerged victorious, 79-62.
West Linn was led by forward Ryan Shearmire, junior, who netted 21 points and guard Anthony Mathis, who finished with 20.
The Lions season concludes tonight against Oregon City (11-11 1-8 TRL). It’s senior night and West Linn will be honoring Jarrod Howard, Colin Davis, Alejandro Venecia and Joel Larson. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m.
